LOCATION Dalhart, Texas is located in the northwest corner of the Texas Panhandle and is known as the Cross Roads of Cow Country. Two major highways crisscross this portion of the panhandle, Highway 54 and Highway 87, along with the completion of two railroads crisscrossing in the early 1900s. The city was built on the county lines of Dallam and Hartley Counties, hence the name Dalhart. This is a very progressive agriculture area with large ranches and farms producing cattle and crops. The most popular crops for this area would be corn, wheat, and varying types of silage for the feedlot and dairy industries.
