Description of the Land

This land has a variety of terrain, soil and variation in elevation. Elevations on this ranch are approximately 2300 feet and vary from 2000 feet to 2600 feet above sea level. The native vegetation on this ranch includes mesquite, black brush, white brush, guajillo, tasajillo, mountain laurel, cedar and other native hill country plants and many other native brushes which contain high protein. The brush ranges from medium to heavy density. The Pecos River Ranch contains 2 ½ miles of the Pecos River which meanders 900 miles across New Mexico and Texas before it flows into the Rio Grande. As soon as it enters Texas from New Mexico the river is immediately put to work separating Loving and Reeves Counties. It is impounded at the Red Bluff Dam and is then released to begin its journey to Seminole Canyon. There are also 5 wells on the property and a pond. Temperatures within the Pecos River Ranch are from a July average high of 97 degrees and a January average low of 32 degrees. The first/last freeze is November 14/March 26; May, June and September are wettest months. Weather conditions can vary from day to day. Wildlife in the area include but are not limited to whitetail deer, mule deer, wild turkey, javelin, squirrel, bobcat, wild cats, bass, catfish, other various fish, oppose, badger, fox, raccoon, dove, blue and bobwhite quail, as well as a variety of birds. This property also has an established source of power supplied and maintained by Rio Grande Electric Cooperative whom serves the area throughout the Trans-Pecos region.
