Recent data from Lands of America shows $19 billion in farms, ranches and other land for sale for sale in Texas. This represents a combined 4.1 million acres of land for sale in Texas (accounting for approximately two percent of land in the state). Of Texas's 254 counties, Henderson County had the most rural property and land for sale. The most expensive land listed for sale in Texas on Lands of America recently was $250 million, while the median price for land and other rural acreage for sale in Texas was $507,879. The average price of land for sale in Texas was $1 million. Based on comps submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program last month, Texas had the most land sales. Of the 763 recorded lands sales, the total value of all completed sales was $360.3 million for all property and land sold in Texas (a significant increase over the previous month). Henderson County recorded the most land sales recently in the state. The Lone Star State has over 200 public hunting areas, which include wildlife management areas, state parks and U.S. Forest Service lands. The state is also home to 191,000 miles of rivers and streams, along with numerous lakes and reservoirs and Gulf of Mexico coastline. As befits a state with excellent hunting for big and small game like deer, waterfowl and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Texas. Texas is the second-biggest state in the United States, covering an area of 268,601 square miles (172 million acres). Of its total landmass, 261,232 square miles (97 percent) covers land area, while the remaining 7,365 square miles is made up of water.
