The soaring hills around Barksdale and Vance are home to some of the most spectacular scenery in Southwest Texas, and is the home of the headwaters of the fabled Nueces River. Greenhouse Springs Ranch is an excellent representative of the area, with several permanent, flowing springs on site, and rugged, raw beauty beyond compare. The front gate is 1.1 miles off of pavement at the end of a gravel county road which passes through one ranch before the subject. One enters into an awesome central valley, being the Little Hackberry Creek drainage, with limestone cliffs and cedar-covered hillsides jutting skyward above giant oak, pecan and sycamore trees. A nice, clean wood frame home and guest home appear, surrounded by a neatly tended yard.
