Recent internal data lists $19 billion in land and rural real estate for sale for sale in Texas. This represents 4.3 million acres of land for sale in the state (accounting for roughly three percent of the state's land area). Of the 254 counties in Texas, Henderson County had the most rural property and land for sale. The most expensive piece of land listed for sale in Texas on Lands of America recently was $250 million, while the median price for land and ranches for sale in Texas was $507,597. The average price of land and rural real estate for sale in Texas was $1 million. Based on comps submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program last month, Texas had the most land sales. Of the 740 recorded lands sales, the total value of all completed sales was $220.4 million for all property and land sold in Texas (an 11 percent decrease over July 2018). Henderson County recorded the most land sales recently in the state. The Lone Star State has over 200 public hunting areas, which include wildlife management areas, state parks and U.S. Forest Service lands. The state is also home to 191,000 miles of rivers and streams, along with numerous lakes and reservoirs and Gulf of Mexico coastline. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Texas. Texas is the second-biggest state in the United States, covering an area of 268,601 square miles (172 million acres). Of its total landmass, 261,232 square miles (97 percent) of the state is land, while the remaining 7,365 square miles is made up of water.
